Origin Story

Swipe was created in Knoxville, TN by two nerds. Frustrated with the online dating scene yet enthralled by the abundance of outlandish profiles, they found themselves combining parts of the bios they encountered.

Competition became fierce to create the funniest, sexiest, or most over the top “Frankenprofiles”. Their friends joined in, submitting their own experiences and ideas, and Swipe was born.

DIY/Prototypes

Swipe has evolved and been refined over several years, with multiple prototypes and playtest copies. The first version was made by a group of friends with decks of cards, masking tape, and sharpie markers!!

Currently, it is in its final pre-production prototype phase.

The Team

This game was created through the efforts of multiple friends from a variety of backgrounds. A game about online dating should be as pluralistic as the culture it reflects.

Much of the first version of Swipe is rooted in the dating scene that is experienced through these perspectives in Knoxville and from around the United States.

Why We Chose Kickstarter

In 2022 we founded Wigsphere Inc to self publish Swipe, and hopefully more games in the future. So far it has been fully bootstrapped by its creators, but in order to fund a first production run of the game, we need some help! We will be launching a Kickstarter campaign this February (to take the edge off Valentines Day).

Help us help you make fun of online dating. We need your support to unleash Swipe on the world!
